Located on Clare Street in Abbeyhalfquarter, Ballina, King's Chinese Takeaway has become a beloved staple for locals, offering a range of fresh and tasty Chinese dishes. Diners frequently rave about the quality of the meat and the delightful combination of flavors in their meals. Although some customers, like Trudy Boccaccio, noted that certain dishes like the chicken and cashew could benefit from a more robust sauce, others expressed satisfaction with the quality and freshness of the ingredients.
Many patrons, such as Graham Mussett and Karen, highlight the takeaway's popularity during the weekends, emphasizing the importance of placing orders early due to its bustling demand. Some regulars fondly remember the eatery's charm, as mentioned by Flo Sneaks, who still cherishes the takeaway for serving some of the best fast food in Ireland.
However, not all feedback is positive. Recent reviews indicate concerns about inconsistent food quality, with one customer noting a significant decline over recent years. Despite these mixed reviews, King's Chinese Takeaway remains a cherished dining venue, with its strong local following and commitment to providing good value for money. If you're in Ballina, it’s definitely worth a visit, especially to try the Kung Po sauce as suggested by loyal patrons.

Reviews for King's Chinese Takeaway
Review highlights
Based on 112 reviewsKing's Chinese Takeaway in Ballina is widely appreciated for its fresh ingredients, flavorful dishes, and good value, making it a popular choice among locals. Customers frequently highlight the quality of the meat and vegetables, with several mentioning it as one of the best Chinese takeaways in the region. However, some feedback points to inconsistency in food quality over time, particularly with specific dishes losing their original appeal. Service-wise, the takeaway’s cash-only policy and difficulty reaching the busy phone line during peak times have been noted as drawbacks. Overall, King's maintains a strong local following thanks to its taste and affordability, despite occasional concerns regarding order accessibility and dish consistency.
Very good Chinese, fresh and tasty, although I did think the chicken and cashew needed a tastier sauce but the vegetables in it were lovely and the chicken, will try it with Kung Po sauce next time. Well liked by the locals and good value for money
A great Chinese takeaway, no restaurant available is very popular with local people Thursday through to Sunday night. If you are looking to place an order, don't leave it too late in the evening. Cash only
I was here 4 years ago and they still make the best fast food in Ireland cant find anywhere like it.
I would give them 5 star if they fix the phone line, is not possible to ring to make an order in weekends when they are busy. Food is lovely , best Chinese take away in town. Update 4 years ago i letf review "best Chinese in town" well that change drastically. Food is terrible now i dont know what happen dry hot and spicy is not even close what it use to be. I was their comming back customer every weekend, but im not anymore
My favourite chinese. Always good quality meat and dishes.
They have the best spice box I’ve ever had. If you haven’t already you should try their spice box 20/10 recommend it
Went here a good few times and unlike any other takeaway place in town, they have your order done quick! The longest I've waited for food was 15 mins! Staff is friendly and the food is lovely!
